Hi! I’m Chris Laas (the Old Guy), a 74-year-old painter living in Keremeos, BC with my wife Gina and our two crazy dogs. I’ve been successfully selling my paintings in restaurants and at art and craft shows for several years now, and my focus is on original acrylic paintings. Friends and critics kept telling me I should have a website—so here it is. Special thanks to Aaron at Keremeos Computers for all his help.

About My Art and Process
I am a self-taught painter who works with acrylic paint and acrylic ink, focusing on strong contrast and interesting shapes as added elements. I paint anything that inspires me, and I’m quite prolific—creating around 80 pieces per year.
When you buy original acrylic paintings from me, you are getting the complete package. I make my own stretcher frames, stretch the canvas, and build the outer frames with a teak stain myself. All canvas paintings are finished with a satin acrylic spray for protection and easy cleaning.
Why No Prints of My Original Acrylic Paintings?
You will notice that I do not sell prints. I believe in the value of one-of-a-kind art. Every piece listed on this site is a genuine original. Despite the extra work involved in framing and prepping, I try to keep my prices reasonable, especially since I produce a high volume of work.
